KSFLT is being co-designed with the voices of families at the center. Our Family Leaders are parents and caregivers from across Kansas who are helping to guide and shape the training, making sure it reflects the real experiences, strengths, and needs of families in our state.

"My name is Crystal Behanna and I am the Quality Director at a rural hospital in northwest KS, as well as an EMT, CPR and Safe Sleep Instructor, and a Master of Public Health student at KSU. Although I hold many roles, the title I cherish the most is Mom! I’m the proud momma of a 12-year-old Cerebral Palsy warrior named “Tuff.” His journey has shaped mine, turning me into a passionate advocate for children with special needs and families navigating life in rural communities. Raising a child with special needs in a rural setting isn’t always easy, but Tuff is a true country boy—and we wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m honored to be part of the village working to help Kansas families learn, grow, and thrive together."

“I’m a Licensed Master level Social Worker passionate about helping families thrive. At home, I’m a wife and mom of three, and our days are filled with life on the farm with our cows, chickens, and dogs. When I’m not working or chasing kids and animals, you’ll find me chasing miles — running marathons for fun and balance.” - Jenny Johnston

My name is Erin Kunkleman, and I’m a proud mother of four. Two of my children have special health care needs, which has given me personal experience with the challenges families face when navigating medical systems and finding the right resources. These experiences have fueled my passion for helping others feel supported and informed. I currently work as a special education teacher in Manhattan, Kansas, and I’m passionate about helping families access resources, build support networks, and know they are not alone.
We are grateful for their leadership and commitment to ensuring Kansas families are represented every step of the way.
